The Avengers

Reasons to watch:

  • If you even sort of like action movies
  • Even if you kinda like superhero movies
  • If you enjoy a good laugh and banter
  • If you’re just curious what all the fuss is about
  • If you have yet to see a good 3D movie

Reasons to skip:

  • If you really dislike action or superhero movies
  • Not that original
  • Kind of predictable

There’s really not a lot I can say in a review about The Avengers without getting into a lot of detail about the movie. What I can say is just go out and watch it. I mean really, this movie is just so damn awesome. The action sequences were amazing, the 3D was fantastic, the banter was hilarious, the story was pretty good. Sure, there were one or two (very) minor details that rubbed me the wrong way, but it does nothing to detract from the overall quality of what is probably the most fun I’ve had at the movies in a long time.
One thing that I can say about the movie is that it’s not the most original movie you will see. It’s a comic book superhero movie, so there’s not a lot of room left to be original here anymore, so I really don’t mind that. There were a few moments, however, where I just plain new exactly what was going to happen. Right down to knowing exactly what line someone would deliver. This occurred a few times. This, and the aforementioned minor details are the only possible flaws. The good outweighs the bad by such a margin that it should really not be factored in here. I can’t say it enough, the movie was just freakin awesome.
