Reasons to watch:
- Great special effects and action sequences
- Very good use of 3D
- If you really like greek mythology
- If you enjoyed Clash of the Titans
Reasons to skip:
- Virtually no story or acting to speak of
- If you want anything more than a simple action movie
Lets get down to it. This movie is all about watching some dudes fighting each other. If you are going to watch it, watch it for the special effects and the 3D, both of which are done quite well. The monsters looked great, the action was fun and there was even a decent joke or two. But that’s it. That is absolutely all you will get out of this movie. There ‘plot’ is weak, the acting is bad and the pacing is pretty poor also. It’s really just a popcorn flick to turn off your mind and watch.
Not all of this can be said of the first movie, Clash of the Titans. So how do they differ? Well, for one, the special effects and 3D for Clash were really not that good. They are much better in Wrath. In Clash, the main reason I went to see it was for the action, which l felt pretty disappointed in. There was no clashing to speak of, the action was fairly bland and there was a huge dry and dull spot in the middle. Wrath focuses more on beating up monsters and less on the voyage to said monsters, and is all the better for it.
To sum it up, I should be frank. By any critical sense of a film, Wrath of the Titans is quite bad. However, it was also fun. If all you want is to turn the critical part of your brain off and enjoy some eye candy for 90 minutes, Wrath will not disappoint.
